Moreover, it’s the people who are exposed to the cop demographic (read: just about everyone) who might have a shift in perspective towards Sanrio. Then again, it may very well be in line with Hello Kitty’s “rebellious” image, as you say.

It’s just a modern dunce cap. I would argue that this is an example of a modern reptuation system, and leveraging a known brand really makes it work. I’m not sure that Sanrio will perceive this as negative… aren’t they actually using the brand in a consistent manner. And it’s not like their sales in the cop demographic will plummet. Just saying…
